If other versions of the above components are already running on the designated Hitachi Storage Viewer system, or other components are utilizing resources (such as specific ports) typically used by Hitachi Storage Viewer, the product usually can be reconfigured to work around these conflicts; however, this cannot be guaranteed.
Hitachi Storage Viewer is certified with the Oracle Standard Edition binaries that come bundled with the product. Note that the database must comply with the Oracle Standard Edition, not an Enterprise license. Oracle Database Standard Edition can be licensed only on servers (including ESX servers) that have a maximum capacity of 4 CPU sockets (populated or not). Using non-bundled versions of Oracle or installing in other pre-existing Oracle instances is not a certified configuration and is not allowed, per the standard license grant.
For Managed Services Editions, the HDS-provided Oracle binaries cannot be used. Managed Services Providers must supply their own licensed Oracle version, which must comply with the Oracle Standard Edition, as stated above.
